i feel like everything confuses me!!
i think either everything makes sense or nothing makes sense; there is no in between.
it recently occurred to me that some people have so much STUFF. i don't think that it's unnecessary to have a lot of stuff, but i also don't find it necessary. what's the median of unnecessary and necessary? e?
because i think i could make a list of all of the things i have in my room and i don't think it would be more than a sheet of paper, two columns each side, front and back. i think that things represent who you are because it's all we know. we judge status in our culture by how many things and what kinds of things and of what kind of quality/how those things were made.
what happened to our values representing who we are? have we completely lost sight of the value of values? isn't that what makes us really who we are? isn't that through which we really, truly connect? we cannot possibly connect on a satisfying level through things that are man made

ok i actually did make a list

1. school books
2. desk lamp
3.
i had the most wonderful dream last night about happy, smiling, dancing turtles. in the dining room of my house we had a tank with two medium-sized turtles in it. they were the happiest turtles you could ever meet, and when you were around them, you couldn't help but be happy too. they loved to listen to music and my whole family and i would dance around the dining room table to the music and when we would do that, the smiling turtles would do the cutest little dance. i hope i meet them again

tuesday, november 4
i went and voted! wow! it actually felt really cool to vote. i didn't think i would really care, but i did. and that was neat! but i like got in trouble when i went in there! i was on the phone and had a democratic pamphlet that somebody handed to me on the street right before i walked into the polling area! I WAS SET UP. but i didn't notice any of the workers staring me down (probably because i was involved in a conversation on the phone, haha), so eventually one of the workers came up to me from across the room and was like "ma'am, please!" it was so bad. i was in there for like 5 minutes. i expected to have to wait for at least a half an hour. nice!

later, jason came over after class and we got dinner. we had the worst sandwich lady in the history of boyd grab 'n go. first, she was like mad at jason because he didn't tell her right of the bat what kind of meat he was going to have on his sandwich! and then when it was my turn, i was like "ok. vegetarian sandwich" or whatever. and she didn't hear me so i said it again. and she just stared at me and was like, "TUNA?" NO! NOT TUNA. then when i obviously specified for her to only put one tomato on my sandwich, she put two. she took the cake there. oh my god. it was so funny. then we went to the market and laughed SO HARD at the candies they have cause you get like 5 pieces of candy for an unreasonable price. good times. i think jason cried, ahaha

then we went to baker to go check out the voting results party. there was a lil asian baby touching a "used piece of pizza" as anya would say

wednesday, november 5
uuuummm! no spanish today. party time. jason and i went to courtside for some 50 cent pizza slices! he got stuck with small baby pieces again so we traded. we played a couple games of pool in baker and then parted ways! it was a good time

hi mom !

saturday, october 11
- a whole lot of nothing during the day up until 9
- hung out with jessica!
- walked up and down court street
- chilled outside of the front room coffeehouse. hot cider :)
- EXPLORED MORTON! (a building full of classrooms. i have math and philosophy in there actually)
- apparently, a lot of the hall lights just don't turn off. wasteful!
- played with the moving chalkboards in a lecture room
- went back to her room to get RENT
- watched RENT in a freaking classroom on a projector screen. our own personal movie screen. comfy chairs and everything!
- sweet deal

it was a really lame saturday turned upside down. a pleasant surprise of a night

monday, october 13
a good day of classes! and then even better when i hung out with ian and jason at bw3 and then went back to ian's to watch the browns and the phillies.

tuesday, october 14
longest day of classes ever. it went by so slowly! it could have been worse, i guess. i napped until 6:30 when i went and ate at jeff with ian, nick, and gabrielle. that was nice! then ian and i chilled in his front yard (!!!) and talked for a good hour. it was nice. then i left and did not start my paper yet. jeez louise. i want to get it done before the weekend at least. it's due monday. i have a lot of crap going on monday, i think. NOT GOOD. not good at all.

wednesday, october 15
i almost missed math today. lindsey walked in the room and it woke me up. three minutes before class!! so i got up in a freaking daze and walked like a zombie to class. i was less than 10 minutes late, so it was all good in the hood. my nap was LOVELY though. oh man. so comfy. i got dinner with jason and ian and went with ian up to bromley to run some errands, haha. yeah! it was good times. jason and i waited way too long to find out that there were no breadsticks...

hahahah breaking EVERYTHING

PHILOSOPHY CLASS

oh yeah sorry for the neck cramps. i dunno how to rotate pictures

gettin ready for a movie .
tuesday, october 7
i had my weekly dinner date with jessica! we caught up and whatnot and then i went back home. i knew it was the fort building contest but there was no way i was going to build a fort?!? or so i thought. one girl from my hall, allison, was like blowing this whistle so i went and checked it out. i <3 whistles. it ended up being like almost all of the girls in my hall working on this huge, elaborate fort. it was surprisingly a really good time! it was our RA's idea so we were forced into participating. after like an hour and a half of building, we paraded up and down to the 4th and 2nd floors to check out our competition. it was weak! the boys in our hall built a "fort" that looked like a jail! they labeled it "home sweet home" hahaha. allison got mad and stopped building with us so we named our fort in dedication of her. so nice.

wednesday, october 8
first real rainy day at college. i was by the time i got to english! i didn't mind too much, though. class was great today! all of them went by really fast. even math! i went to dinner with ian, emily, and jason tonight. we are such a good group. i love them all! we sat with amanda, katie, and lindsey as well. ben folds concert tonight!! i'm not going. but yeah, it was a nice, lively dinner. we all agreed that it should happen more than once a week AT LEAST. that's all i have to really say about today. good times. still a really great week!

<img src="http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5652/n141879007730026516537qh2.jpg"
oh man life is good

it was ironic today because i kept thinking about how badly i wanted to go on a bike ride. i figured i'd call megan to see if she wanted to come along. i ended up forgetting all about that by the time i got home from class and found that i had a missed call from her. it was fate!
yeah. so i just got back from a bike ride with megan! we hung out at the skate park for a while and made a new best friend. actually we made a few new best friends! this one kid (YEAHhoe is his nickname) and a whole bunch of bees. we actually weren't too fond of the bees. we went to wal-mart, got a few things, and then rode home. it was simple. it was nice.

it is the apple cider time of year again!

bike ride. this weather. apple cider.
it's going to be a good week

and to think i was going to take a nap after class!

on friday, ian, amanda, emily, and i accidentally went to a really good show at casa nueva. the first "band" that played was probably one of the worst things i have witnessed in my life. all they did was hit buttons on their computer and this little box thing and like move in slow motion. it made everybody's ears bleed, if i'm not mistaken! so ian and i went for a walk and came back in time for the next band. they were actually really good and interesting to watch. the lead singer really knows how to keep people interested. i don't know! he was crazy. and there was this black woman who was enjoying it too much. like really. she was laughing so hard. it was cute, though. she was having fun! and there was these two people dancing 105% of the time. it was like this 20 year old dude and a 50 year old woman. it was cute, funny, and interesting. i would like to know their story. we all went out to get some fresh air between the second and last bands. ian and i got ice water, came up with slogans for the snack attack burger at wendy's, and pet horses! he is so glad that he can write in his diary that he pet horses. i know, what a happy moment in his life. then we watched the third band! they used an electric cello. then we went back to ian's, chilled with a couple of other people, took a walk, and then i left. it was good.

i haven't really done anything since then. i slept a lot. my roommate can't even handle how much i sleep. haha. oh well! i should and probably will do laundry tonight

ok i have decided that the top two classes that i want(need) to take next quarter are japanese and geology of the national parks

(i need to remember to go to the study abroad meeting! i want to go to japan so badly. i should be makin' friends with all these japanese exchange students here! get some connections right quick)

- got dinner with julias verdes on tuesday. i saw her room. you need so much technology to do anything in her building! she even has an elevator. WHOA slow down

- i have a headache! so sad

- went to dinner tonight. it was hawaiian themed? what the heck! i didn't even know what to do. everything was set up as self serve. i want somebody to scoop my food for me! well, the veggie option was not self serve. so that was strange.

i guess i really don't have anything to say. this weather is making me so happy. the scent of crisp fall air is becoming more and more distinct with each passing day. i am so ready.

i think i am going to go for a peaceful walk and then to the library to work on some spanish. happy

i have to stop taking naps after my classes are over. that's certainly what is screwing me over when it comes to having a good sleep pattern. i want to ride my bike to wal-mart today. maybe i'll go alone. maybe i won't

this weekend was pretty eventful, i think.

after class on friday, i went to ian's and hung out with him and ryanna, got dinner, visited georgette's quad and then went out. first we went to get chipotle with jason and emily. it was so much fun! we stopped at bromley to pick something up and eventually made it to chipotle. ryanna and i waited SO long for our rice bowl because two people in front of us were waiting for chicken. we didn't know about the chicken situation so we just kinda chilled there for like 5 minutes. it was the longest i have ever waited for nothing. so ridiculous. we ate our chips and left. then ryanna, ian, emi, and i took a walk and hung out in ian's room. we chilled out or whatever and then i think ryanna and i left. apparently i am a blue goat and i have never been in public. the only way to have a blue sweater is to get it from blue goat fur. ryanna and i drew really cool pictures!

on saturday, ryanna and i went to ian's around 3:30. we watched this disney movie, operation dumbo drop, which was the most non-disney disney movie EVER. all it was about was nestle crunch. jeez. we also watched some of the most strange commercials i have ever experienced. there is one about this cupcake maker and the girl like puts the cupcakes up to her eyes and she does this little dance for 2 seconds. i want to see it again so badly. then we went with gabrielle, zach, amanda, and emily to this mexican restaurant for margaritas. they did not even card us! i don't even know. ryanna and i ate A LOT of chips and delicious sopapillas. we didn't pay and now karma is out to get us. then like all of them besides ryanna, me, and zach went downtown again to go to this 80s dance party. ryanna and i hung out with zach in his room and had a 20s party. great depression style! and then we celebrated our rumspringa and watched pioneer life. haha, it was fun. we watched august rush with ian and emily later and then i went home

cool! on sunday i didn't do anything! the first time i went outside was at 10:30pm to go print something out at the library. it was freezing out! i got a lot of my english paper done and note to self: i need to finish that by wednesday. that will require some serious revising. the first few essays that i wrote are low quality for sure

oh! i finished listening to all of the mountain goats on my ipod. i finished right before i met ian and ryanna uptown! score

i went to breakfast this morning! and showered

i quite like the books that we are reading in english. they are good books to read in the grass. i am going to keep them forever. i think i am starting to really like that class. when it ended today, i found myself surprised at how quickly the time went by. good

:D

the week goes by so quickly! i cannot believe it is already thursday. and i only have three classes left today, how great. i haven't done anything all week! technically, i have been so busy, but haven't actually gotten anything done. it's horrible. i have such terrible work ethic. i certainly need to work on that.

i was sitting under this tree between classes the other day and at least six hours later, i found this little bug still chillin out on my shirt. it was kind of really creepy. i don't know about that, mr. bug! he looked like a baby moth. however, i have no clue what it actually was.

i woke up with enough time to shower today!

oh wow i almost just fell off my chair.

i've been spending a lot of time outside lately. it's been really refreshing. and for real, it has been so so so nice out, why would i not take advantage of that?! i also just spend a lot of time outside of my room. because 1) it is not very nice to be cooped up in there all.the.time. and 2) my bed like taunts me or something and i always end up giving in and taking constant naps. not good! so i usually sit outside on the front lawn of my building or go to the library. and now! i have taken up a liking for the baker center (the hugest building you will ever go in). last night i was just like chillin in there like it was my house. so hopefully i do that more. too bad they close at midnight! i have also discovered that i actually quite like the lounge on the first floor of my building. so i will make that my living room. i am so excited for these things :)

so i have been listening to nothing but the mountain goats on my ipod for the past week. i thought it would be a good idea to listen to all 380 songs that i have by them. surprisingly enough, the process itself is not bad at all. i don't know! i thought i would get really sick of it. but every single thing he sings is perfect. i am on song 334 of 380, so i am very close to being finished. for some reason, i do not have "going to georgia" on my ipod. that is my freaking favorite song! oh just kidding! but guess what. it is the very last song. that's kind of cool, though. like a nice little reward for finishing my task. oh man!
d e t e r m i n a t i o n

the last book i read was The Little Prince. i recommend it to approximately everybody in the world

i went home this weekend! my mom picked me up after math on friday and we left around 4:30. i drove and we had good conversation and it was great. i admimtted that i have an alcohol problem now that i'm at college. juuuust kidding! i only drink 8 times a week. anyway, i got home and went straight to the game

i went to the football game with lexy, lauren, and brendan! it was very fun to make fun of berea's band with them, haha. i'm so glad that all of us are in the know-how of marching band so we could all equally understand what the heck we were talking about. anyway, i harassed emily williams and marina after half-time. i saw mr. williams but not mrs. or mr. strah! aw. after that, lexy and i went to jenn and alexis' which was very nice. cameron, alyssa, jenn, sam, and meryl! were all there as well. we hung out with alexis in her room for a bit, talked, and made delicious tropitas(sp?). those things are my favorite, ever. it was great catching up with lexy! :) after that, alexis and i had a egg sandwich reunion with our dunkin' donuts lady and chilled at common grounds. i stayed up so late trying to transfer music to my new laptop(!!!) but that ended up being an epic fail. i played guitar hero, though. but i didn't play any pool ! sad

on saturday lauren and i went to the metro parks! we sat, talked, contemplated things as usual, went creek stomping, and did not do acid. it was great. later i went to nina's, bought beer, and watched the worst television programs ever. okay they weren't bad, but i just can't pay attention to anything. so intriguing! oh wow the anticipation that commercials build up for you. dang! way to go. anyway, she did not take me to the puppy festival, and i feel like we did something else! OH YEAH, we went to bob evans, ew. it was delicious, actually. my omelet was so good omg

on sunday nina drove me back because my family was MIA at the indian's game. does that phrase even make sense together? i hope not. the drive was super nice. we even stopped at a waffle house! oh my god, so good. we eventually got to athens around 9 ! i gave her the grand tour of ohio university and we even watched the fountain at the pond! so neat. then we sat on the bobcat! HAHA omg it was probably the coolest thing that anyone has done on this entire planet, i'm not gonna lie. we even invented a holiday for the bobcat. oh and nina makes the worst jokes in the history of the universe, just so you know. it was a really good night. then she left and i didn't do any homework. whoops!

it's tuesday now. i'm chillin' outside on the grass infront of my building. it's getting pretty chilly out and i ran out of hot chocolate, so i'll probably go inside and finish doing whatever i have to do. today was more successful for me than yesterday, but not by much. oh well. i'll aim higher tomorrow, maybe. juuuust maybe

tuesday, september 16
i think philosophy was fun on tuesday. i think zucker used bubble gum to explain a concept. AWESOME! i got dinner with julias verdes (jessica diamond) and it was very nice to talk to her! i ate at nelson for the first time since marching tryouts. weird! then i hung out with ian, emily, megan, and massachusetts girl for a bit. i need to learn her name, i know. i was up until like 3:15am. so many people here have L.L. Bean bookbags here! however, mine's the best

wednesday, september 17
i missed enlgish . OH GOD. my first missed class of college. congratulate me the next time you see me or something. no! i was very sad that it happened. i woke up seven minutes after the class had actually started. so sad! that is my most important class, too. well, not really important. but i need to be there and figure out what the heck is going on. after i was done with class for the day, i ended up running into ian on college green after math. so i went with him to bush and he didn't have his keys so we chilled with his friend stephanie in her room down the hall. when her roommate, gabrielle, came home we went to jefferson and ate food. it was my first time eating there, i liked it. then megan and i went on a bike ride to wal-mart! we both went over to baker to get my bike and then rode to the bike path. it's like right along the highway, it's nice to know that biking is just as efficient as driving and it's nicer for the earth! anyway, we stopped at the skate park and megan took pictures of kids with her beast of a camera that she has for her photography class. the skate park has the most terrifying dome thing that seems like it would be completely impossible to get on top of! oh my gosh. then we rode to wal-mart and went shopping like a family, haha. we got stuff and then put it back because we didn't want to carry all of that on our bikes. maybe next time we can prepare better. i need a basket for my bike! the bike path was amazing though. the sun was setting as we were coming back and it was beautiful. there was a lot of open land on either side of the path. i will definitely be going back there soon!

thursday, september 18
it's a good thing i went to english today because he told us that we don't have class tomorrow! that means i don't have a class until 1:10 because i don't have philosophy on fridays! holy moly. then i went back home to shower and i was going to be like 5 minutes more and then i'd leave, but the fire drill went off! and lindsey and i were literally JUST talking about how we're glad that the fire alarm hasn't gone off in our building yet. go figure. but it wasn't because anybody set it off or anything, it was like actually a drill so we know what the heck to do just in case. i had philosophy at 11:10! i left at 11:05 ! uh oh. it takes me like 15 minutes to get there. but it was fine. we didn't do much besides talk about our exam. scan-tron dance-a-thon! haha. we got out 20 minutes early. I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SPANISH!

alright! after math, i got dinner with ian and megan WHICH WAS A JOKE! but we at least got ice cream novelties. i went to court street with them and emily! it was fun :) we did not get bowls or tattoos. next time, right? UH. NO. um but yeah that was good times and now i'm at the library once again, sippin' on abn arizona tea tall boy. i feel like i have a lot of stuff to do. mostly i have to study for philosophy and do spanish stuff. today we played freaking battleship in spanish HAHA. it was so funny. brittany and i kept yelling out "CHOQUE!" (hit) even though we didn't have a choque. so cool. it was a good day of spanish. i am really tired. i should watch a movie tonight! i get my computer this weekend :) and lindsey too. life's going to be strange without having to come to the library for everything in my life

okay i have been wanting to write in here for quite ome time now, but i never have enough. i mean what does it matter anyway, right? WELL, FORGET THAT! so here goes nothin

school has been going on for one week now. although i have been here for like 17 days or something. it feels weird; i feel like i have been doing class for so much longer than just five days. but i guess i will talk about my classes

english 153 (9:10-10:00) mtwrf
this course is about writing. we read a lot and then write about what we read. it's really intense seeming and every time i sit down and think about this class, i wonder why i signed up for it. i feel like it's going to get pretty time consuming this week. a lot of reading. we are currently reading stephen king's "on writing" and i really like it. i never thought about ever reading something by king because i don't like his name. i guess that is no excuse for anything, haha. so i am excited about that

philosophy 101 (11:10-12:00) mtwr
this is for sure my favorite class. my professor is the coolest guy. he's older and he knows a lot. he told us this joke on the first day of class that wasn't even funny, but he said that's why he told it. he does silly things during class and one day when a girl was like more involved with her cell phone than she was with the class, he like walked up to her and asked if he had any missed calls for him, hahaha. and he was right in the middle of listening to some kid's question. he reminds me of senor garate !

--------------------It's about a guy who buys a horse. The horse seems to check out when he's buying it, and the owner says to him before he buys, “I have to tell you one thing though. He's got a bad habit. He likes to sit on grapefruits..” And the guy buying the horse says, “Okay, that's the only thing wrong with him?” The owner says yes. The guy thinks, “He said grapefruits-all right,” and he pays for the horse. He's taking it home with him. And they're going across a stream and suddenly the horse sits down and won't get up. The guy doesn't know what to do. He runs back to the guy he bought it from. “I bought a horse from you, you tell me there's one thing wrong, that he likes to sit on grapefruits. He's sitting in the middle of a stream, I can't get him to move.” And the guy says, “Oh! I forgot to tell you. He also sits on fish.”-------------------------

spanish 211 (1:10-2:00) mtrf
spanish is spanish, so yeah. i feel like i'm the only person interested in spanish in that class. i'm probably wrong, but it still feels weird. i like the girl i sit next to. i felt comfortable with her right away ! so that was nice

math 113 (3:10-4:00) mtwrf
i love math!!! the professor is straight out of grad school so he's very obedient to the curriculum, i think. or to like very traditional ways of teaching. but i guess it's math and math is just numbers so there aren't very many ways to teach it. he makes jokes every day about how exciting he thinks math is. they are pretty lame/funny every time.

i did laundry this week!!! whoa! it was scary. but i ran into one of the girls i tried out for drum line with, rachael. i quite like her and i hope to hang out with her sometime soon.

i will talk about my first college weekend now!!

on friday, i didn't do anything. well, i talked to alexis on the phone for 4 and a half hours so that has to count for something! it felt like we actually hung out, which is a great thing. very interesting, as well. i laughed so hard at her ricky joke, i cried. oh my dear god. i could've died! then i watched family guy and must love dogs.

on saturday night, lindsey (my roommate), ashley, and i went out. we first went to donkey coffee to check out this show. i quite enjoyed it. but i don't think they did so much. it was just some local scene stuff. the best!! haha, but yeah, um, we only watched two of the three bands. and then we went to drew's because he is a frat boy and so obviously throws large parties. we went to his house and i hung out with drew away from the party, downstairs, along with three other people. it was nice, we just talked about whatever and stuff and then i went on a walk with drew and his friend, dave, on court street. we sat on the stairs and watched people go by and i went back around 3. yeah, i lost lindsey and ashley. oops, oh well. it was chill, though. i liked it. and i'm glad/surprise that i actually had fun, haha :)

now i have a lot of stuff to get done before the night is over. I AM HUNGRY!

okay! so. i have been in athens for 6 days now (well, sort of)

i came so early because of marching 110. i moved in on thursday and met my roommates. they were really nice ! friday and saturday consisted of really, really intense training. they taught us the style of marching that they do and we practiced fundamentals over and over until we basically died. the staff were so dang frickin mean. it was horrifying! hanging out with the drum line kids was my favorite part! one night, we watched them do their cadences, which was really cool. then we piled 18 of us into erik's van and he dropped us all off at boyd, our dorm building. and another day, we fit like 6 of us in the back of tex's truck. on saturday in the afternoon, we had music auditions and later around 8 we had our marching auditions. the stadium lights went out when one of the squads were about to start their marching audition! it was bad. they ended up doing it in the dark with like.. the headlights of the snapper on. the sunset was beautiful that night. nothing like i've ever seen before. i think i saw just about every color in the sky. anyway, while we were all waiting, one of the drummers was telling OU ghost stories which were really kind of spooky. i ended up not making the cut which i was okay with because it was probably the hardest i've ever worked, EVER!!! so the next day, sunday, i was very bored! vicky ended up picking me up and taking me back to her school and i hung out there until tuesday night. it was nice! i kept getting lost on the campus because it was much too big. just kidding, it's the smallest thing ever. we hadn't hung out in so long. we even got to go to the columbus zoo with her parents!! ZOOMBEZI BAY! it was a lot of fun. i watched a lot of movies in her room and never got to meet her interesting roommate :( i am a panther plaza advocate! we ate sonic twice! the second time they didn't ask for the money before they gave us the food, so once we got everything we ordered in the car, vicky like.. sped off and it was so funny! i saved like 5 bucks

this morning i moved into my actual dorm! it was much freakin work. i moved from the third floor of one building to the third floor of another building. oh did i mention that there are no elevators? i am glad to be done with that now! i feel more at home now that i don't have to live out of my suitcase. while i was unpacking, i saw that my mom packed two brand new coloring books and a new pack of crayons. that is so freaking cute! i feel like a pre-schooler. the best part about my room is that i'm directly across from the bathroom!! i could not be happier about that

i still have a lot more organizing to do. i also need to remember to find tape somewhere so i can put up my cool poster. hahahah :)

i go to "orientation" on friday. i guess that i'll just sign up for classes! i hope there are some left, uh oh! i am excited to take math and spanish. and maybe some chemistry! !!! oh and some other classes or something

ps - my tragus has almost healed completely!! it's been like two weeks now since i've had it. i want to get my other piercing back!!!!! maybe an athens ghost took it

- i've gone to three movies for the price of none! (actually with all the drinks and popcorn we got, the total amount of money that alexis and i didn't spend adds up to $72.50) we saw pineapple express, tropic thunder, and the dark knight. the dark knight was so cool!

- i'm nervous as heck about school

- i leave tomorrow morning

- i have yet to sign up for classes

- i don't even have a computer yet. i don't even have one ordered. i am not really bothered by this. as long as i have my ipod, i will be fine

- i need to make a mental note to remember to at least have math and spanish in my schedule

- i added my roommate on facebook yesterday and she wrote on my wall after she confirmed the request saying, "hey, how do i know you?" oh god! those were not the words i wanted to see at all. but, i messaged her and we are currently talking! her name is lindsey and she's glamorous. i am surprisingly really excited to get to know her!

- i need to get a camera

- i also need to go and pack, umm!!!????

on the phone
mom: be my friend on facebook!
me: no! i have too many secrets on there!

haha

recent life: alexis and i have been going to common grounds a lot and it's been really fun! we met a bunch of people one night and it's great to just sit outside and write. or play 20 questions. we even got to hang out with max and zach! and mike and george, of course. we are now frequent customers of the dunkin donuts right down the street and the lady who is usually there loves us! i look forward to seeing her, haha. one night we ordered through the drive-thru window even though we weren't supposed to!

thursday was like the best thing ever. first we went to the north olmsted fair, which was pretty disgusting. then we went to the beach until 11:30pm and then went to common grounds. we hung out there probably until 3:30am, left and went to denny's. after denny's, we went to the metro parks around 5:45am where we fell asleep next to the train tracks for a good half hour. we watched the sun rise and waved to people on a passing train. it was surprisingly very comfortable on the rocks. we woke up and tried to go to the bathroom at a nearby CVS, but had no luck. we also tried to grab some continental breakfast from a hotel, but the two hotels we went to were too fancy for life! they had like servants or something, i don't know. we stopped at my house and went to westlake high school at 8:30am to watch the marching band practice! some kids thought alexis was tony hahahah. we went to the bathroom in the dark boys bathroom and then watched the band on the football field. we made signs and cheered them on. we went back to alexis' house and slept until 6pm, showered, and went to the football game. i have never been to a football game since i was always behind the scenes with the marching band! i had to pay six dollars for that, jeez. it was so sad to not be with the band, though. we hung out with jasmine during the game and went to friendly's with everybody afterwards. churn baby, churn !

a bit about camp: pirate week was so cool! it was probably the best cabin i had all summer. i was in PG5 with monica and anna! i think that's when spider communication came to life as well. how strange. we built rafts and played a horrible game in which the entire camp ran up and down the day camp hill and back for one piece of candy. some kids even got hurt! jeez louise. oh well. quest week was a lot of the day campers' last week! so sad. my group for quest was the kung-fu pandas (aka: the panda cats on wheels). i was very not CA when telling them how to spell "fu". hahaha. my favorite camper from last year was back! she didn't let me live the fu thing down. anna visited quest night and that was nice to see her. and my last last week was a joke! my group was the jellyfish and stella's was the dinosaurs, so we'd walk around yelling "jellyfish and dinosaurs!" all week. stella and alyssa were in love with gabe's dad and we all got a picture with his car, hahaha. we had all boys besides taylor in both groups 1 and 2. taylor doesn't count though because she was like one of us.

we also went to waffle house a lot and did a fake kidnapping of alexis infront of mcdonald's !

berea fest III
oh my gosh! ok so since it was two days, jenn, alexis, lauren, and i camped out at crystal springs. the most amazing part was the camping. but we bought food and set up the tent and then headed over to the church where the actual thing was taking place. on friday, we saw a few bands along with paul baribeau, lemuria, and 80hd. then the party started! oh my god, at gfirst, everything was so awkward with all the other people camping out. we went to where the majority of the kids were having a campfire and talked to a couple of girls there. then we left because we were like uhh, bye. we then talked to our neighbors who didn't want anything to do with us besides snatch a few lollies off of us. oh well, right? so we went back to the campfire and just joined in the circle. everybody was so accepting and it was nice! we all sang defiance, ohio and against me songs together and luke kept asking everybody to go swimming. no one went the first time he said it, but then alexis, jenn, and a couple others eventually ran over to the lake with him. skinny dipping!! a bunch of the others eventually joined and we met almost everybody there! doug played the ankle game with us but broke the rules all the time, ray nearly drowned, anna lost her glasses, adam found her glasses, luke, mar, and a couple of others played chicken. max played the "SOMEHTING'S GOT MY LEG!" game. isaac and emily were in love. and later, we found sam's cell phone in the grass! meeting and hanging out with everyone was so much fun. i love meeting new people!!! it was quite the experience. luke and mar had nowhere to sleep so since we put our tent up for availibility anyway, we said they could sleep in ours. they were SO cute, oh my goodness. after swimming for a couple of hours, we dried off and hung out for a little bit more. jenn, alexis, and i went to sleep around 7! it was quite the experience

this past week at camp, which was pirate week, was my favorite week of camp so far. i was in pinegrove 5 and i couldn't have asked for a better group of girls. (casey, kelley, haleigh, holly, felicia, hannah, evie, and rachel). they were 11 and 12 and i could talk to them on a level of friends instead of just watching over them, which was nice for a change. i hope to be staying with that age group for the last couple of weeks! felicia and i shared many laughs during chapel and the night activities on wednesday were perfect. there was a point on wednesday evening when i was just lying there on the hill to b-field. i had my eyes closed and listened to the sounds of the girls screaming while rolling down the hill. i was wearing a hoody and the breeze from the wind made it an ideal summer night. it was perfect! day camp went smoothly as well. stella and i had a couple of incredible adventures... !!! and on friday night, i stayed up and we had a good converstaion and an shared an immense amount of laughter. especially during our trip to the mini kybo. there was one day where i had only 2 hours of sleep and i was miserable all day. it was so bad. i slept through dinner and anna woke me up.. and i thought it was the next morning. i kept asking her where the day campers were. i was so embarassed when i found out the truth!!

i'm finally getting used to this! finally

spider communication!

being a camp counselor is the most stressful and most beautiful thing in the world. the amount of work that actually goes into it can be utterly unbearable at times. the people i work along side with and the kids i have been hanging out with for the past 5 weeks are some of the most wonderful people you could ever meet. the seemingly random group of people that we everso dearly call the camp y-noah staff is inexplicible. the things that we accomplish together are out of this world! the ways in which we play off of each other and lean on one another for support are so completely necessary at times, that it's scary. with all of this being said, i am really bored with having an entire week of free time. as much as i wanted it during week 3, it's just not as worth it as i thought it would be. i miss my friends from there and i never thought i'd say this, but i tihnk most of all, i miss the kids.

i have never been so stressed out in my entire life up until a couple of weeks ago. and the end results are totally worth it. i've been learning to deal with things in such ways i never thought were possible. problems i never could have imagined have hit me like a wall! and i'm learning. i have nearly conquered dealing with the stress in positive ways. i have been thinking on my feet like never before. it really is the best job possible.

staff training week
- well, the night before i left for camp, i went to bed at 4am and i fell asleep on my bedroom floor with the lights on?! around 6am, i got up to turn off the lights and proceeded to get a pillow and lie back down on the floor. i've got smarts. i finally got into bed around 7.

- meeting everybody was weird. alyssa and i got there 3 hours early so we met all the internationals first and we were so priveledged that we got to clean! first impressions are funny.

- we did a static 3 times in a row on tuesday! how horrible. later we ate s'mores and it was a lot of the foreigners first time having them. stella had even forgotten the name of them!

- cook out night on wednesday. iamit making paul say hot dog because he was saying it in such a twangy way. she asked him what is the long meat called?

- on thursday we did CPR/first aid training. it was like a scene from a movie: everybody was sprawled out on the floor, asleep, during the videos. yeah we're a pretty qualified staff, if i do say so myself! stella was talking about the flavors of this rainbow drop candy, "the difference between the red and the green is like mcdonald's and the tuna casserole." oh god, it was like the funniest thing ever. we ended up getting lost on the way home. what should've taken us 10 minutes tops, took us an hour and fifteen minutes. we stopped for directions 3 times. we even stopped at some random naked man's house! it was cool though. being in the car with nick, stella, amy, and alyssa gave us a good chance to bond! we got mcdonalds and nick got a sub from captain nemo's?!! and we saw a sign that said "discovering god through dinosaurs" that's like the most ironic phrase. love it

- on friday, powertown 5 (represent!) worked on our skit and there was a campfire with all of the staff. keep coughing

week 1 - western week
cabin from hell! seriously. zhane, ellie, macie, sam, carolynn, liana, and heather(i think). the only nice ones were carolynn (until like wednesday), liana, and sam. i actually really got along with sam and i am hoping she comes back again this summer. my co's were stella and monica. so much fun! one morning, stella was asking if i wanted to go shower and i was so tired i couldn't understand. i kept having her repeat herself and one time i responded with, "fire?" it was so interesting

week 2 - sherwood forest week
oh ! this was an awesome cabin. iamit was my co and the girls were breanna who i had last year, megan (coolest camper ever), nalani, alaina, anna, tori, reagan (for one day), and gabby. it was a good week. i think i wrote "arts and crack" on a counselor note during week 2. haha, could you imagine?

megan: nalani, you have the smallest bladder ever
nalani: it's not that i have a small bladder, it's just that it shrunk when i came here!

week 3 - beach week
this was the most stressful week for me so far. however, it was also the most fun! day camp really got to me. the resident campers were hilarious. they were all first time campers and i think it was a really great first week for them. we had a kitchen raid, slept in kastner with pinegrove 1, went night swimming, ate ice cream out of a 7ft (clean) gutter. i think i had more fun than the kids. i had shayna, destiny, lauren, eleni, emerald, kaitlyn, and one more that i cannot remember her name for the life of me. we'll call her brooke. but these girls were the coolest ever!

week 4 - super hero week
i finally learned how to save a ton of energy, making this week a great one. i think it was my favorite week yet. with day camp in particularly. i was finally taking things in small doses instead of looking at the big picture all at once and freaking myself out. i freaking love my day campers! i had a lot of fun with everything during week 4 and alexis was a JC in my cabin! i rode the day camp bus every day and things went swimmingly. night off was awesome... christian wore alexis' glasses and hat and acted like an old man in giant eagle and rode one of the electric wheel chairs. we were being followed by so many of the giant eagle workers... we ran outta there so fast. it was quite humorous and scary! we saw forgetting sarah marshall which was actually really funny. my counselor notes were late again

nicholas after getting a drink of water: man! i was thirstier than a camel!

this entry in a nutshell: holy crap!

group 1!

parker

oh my god. week 3

creek stomping

addison, fish face, and sam

i think the one kid is preaching. check out the girl like almost directly in the middle of the picture. her face just screams death

CREEK STOMP

ps - the whistle is the best invention ever
